I have to say that this was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. When Serena asked if I would document her birth story, I had quite a mix of emotions; scared, nervous, honoured and touched. What a beautiful opportunity, to capture such a momenteous occasion. Maxine and I had barely finished our birth photography course, when I got the text that Serena was in labour. My heart raced as I dashed home to grab my camera bag. I raced to Serena’s home, and was warmly welcomed and soon realized that I was the only one in a panic. I entered the bedroom that was set up for a home birth and immediately became more relaxed. The birth pool was being filled with warm water, candles lit and some pretty pink lights were glowing. The midwives were setting up and Serena and Craig’s other children were chilling out and playing xbox. As her contractions progressed, my heart raced as I remember all too well that incredible pain. After a trip to the hospital for precautionary reasons, waters broke and I soon got to witness one of the most incredible miracles. Scarlett entered the world absolutely perfect. She is surrounded by a ton of love, and I can’t explain how thankful I am too have been able to capture her arrival.
