Newborn Kitten Portraits
Meet sweet Abby, our tabby kitten! I have frequently photographed animals, mostly dogs with their families in studio, but this was my first attempt at Newborn kitten portraits. Abby is the newest addition to our family. She is so photogenic, and made my job easy, by somewhat cooperating. Well, as much as you would expect from a kitten! I don’t normally consider myself an Alberta pet photographer. During the shut downs I needed to get in the studio, and photograph something sweet and sleepy. Even if that wasn’t a baby! So Abby filled in spot. And I have to admit, I didn’t hate it! In fact I would love to shoot more studio pet portraits. I mean look at that little pose! So earnest and sweet. She was the perfect model, both making eye contact with the camera, and sleeping through half her session.
Studio Pet Portraits
While I am not new to studio pet portraits, this was my first studio kitten photography session ever. In fact, we have only had one other kitty in studio in the last 7 years! Cats can be skittish when they are out of their element. But sweet Abby at just 7 weeks was flexible. We had a great shoot at the studio during the shutdown. We had to let her run and play before we got these sleepy shots. Prepping ahead for any animal (or baby) session helps to guarantee a successful session. And I had my husband as my assistant. Holding a string and getting her attention. Chasing after her when she left the set! Covid-19 has given many non-essential workers a long stretch at home, and I know many people who have taken the time to add a fur baby to their families. Abby was actually our second addition, you can meet our first, Henry the one-eyed bunny HERE. (Scroll down to see him).
While I would love to call myself a full-time Alberta pet photographer, my first love lies in photographing newborns. But if you would like to capture your new fur baby, or are a reputable breeder, who would like some professional studio pet portraits, please message me, for details and availability.
