The Best Time to Reserve Your Newborn Session
Most parents are surprised to learn that the best time to book a newborn photographer is actually during the second trimester of pregnancy. Booking early helps ensure availability around your due date while giving you plenty of time to plan your session without feeling rushed.
Maxine & Shellaine only accept a limited number of newborn sessions each month so every family receives the time and care they deserve.
When Is the Best Age for Newborn Photos?
The ideal time to photograph your baby is between 8 and 21 days old.
During this stage babies tend to:
- Sleep deeply
- Curl naturally into those adorable newborn poses
- Be easier to soothe
- Have fewer stretches of wakefulness
- Have a well established feeding pattern (we find young erbabies much less settled)
Of course, beautiful newborn portraits are still possible after three weeks, and every baby is different. We always work around your baby’s comfort and needs. After three weeks, we may do more wrapped or lifestyle images.
