Babies First Birthday

I loved shooting this Fox-themed cake-smash in our Edmonton studio!  This little guy didn’t mind smashing up the super cute fox themed cake his momma brought in for his first birthday!  Although the cake was properly demolished, the birthday boy wasn’t keen on eating it.  Many cakes tend to be pretty sweet for baby’s tastebuds, so this is actually quite common during first year cake-smashes.  

Set Design

Little baby “D’s” momma wanted to incorporate a boho theme into this fox-themed cake-smash in our Edmonton studio. Camping elements added to the inspiration, and the backdrop chosen was complete with arrows and beautiful birchwood. Add in the most adorable fox-themed birthday cake, and voila the perfect recipe for an absolutely perfect cake-smash set!

Little Mr.D is the happiest baby ever, we did two other sets before the cake smash itself.  Birthday boy gave us the sweetest one-year old smiles! Typically, for babies first birthday photoshoot, we begin the session with a set that doesn’t include the cake. By starting with a separate set, we get some variation on poses and background prior to getting all messy from the cake-smash component. Check out some of our other cake-smashes here!

This client is so special to us, she has been coming to the studio since her first (who is now 6!) was born!  It is so great to watch our families grow and change over the years.
