One of my favourite locations for Edmonton family photography is Ferns Flowers, a beautiful U-pick flower farm located just outside Edmonton and easily accessible from Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan.

The colourful flower fields, winding pathways, and beautiful evening light create the perfect backdrop for relaxed family portraits. During these sessions, we capture much more than a traditional family photo. Families receive a variety of images including full family portraits, sibling photos, individual child portraits, parent portraits, and natural moments that showcase each family’s unique connection.

This beautiful session took place during golden hour, when the flower fields were in full bloom and the warm summer light created a dreamy backdrop for every image.

Why Choose Summer Family Photos?

• The weather! You can plan fun, light summer outfits (we have some studio wardrobe options available for these sessions as well.) September can be warm and beautiful, but we have also had years of cold (and even snow!) in early fall. July and August are wonderful months to book family photos.
• More flexible schedules; the kids are off school, and often sports and commitments are paused, making a weekend or weeknight session possible.
• It is the most beautiful time of year, the flowers are all in season, and for such a short window.
• We get to avoid the fall rush.

These are full luxury sessions. We do standing, sitting and walking family portraits, then breakdowns of each parent with the child(ren) and individual shots of everyone, including mom+dad! Some sets we can include are:

Ferns Flowers is located on the outskirts of Edmonton, also easily accessible from both Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan.

Summer flower field sessions are available for a very limited time while the flowers are in bloom. The season is from July 20th-September 10th.
